  • At New Heights, we believe everyone deserves a seat at the table—with good food to put on it. The Community Food Network Manager plays a key role in making that happen. If you have a heart for service, an eye for a good sale, and a strong back (or know how to recruit one!), we’d love to have you on the team. 

    This part time role manages the flow of food from purchase to shelves—keeping track of what we have, what we need, so we can get it into the hands of our neighbors in a way that reflects the love of Christ. The manager reports directly to the CFN Director with line of sight to the Executive Director and New Heights CCDA’s initiatives. 

    RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: 

    Inventory and stock management 

    • Keep food inventory updated and organized–know what’s in stock and what’s getting close to expiration. 

    • Circulate stock effectively to minimize waste and ensure freshness. 

    • Ensure all food is handled in compliance with food safety and regulations. 

    Procurement and Stocking 

    • Shop Smart: buy food from local grocery stores and Feeding America with sales and member needs in mind. 

    • Track weekly deals and stretch every dollar to help provide more food to members.. 

    • Coordinate with agencies and stores for pickups and occasional donations. 

    Pickup & Delivery 

    • Pick up food from Feeding America twice/month. 

    • Unload safely with help from our rockstar volunteers. 

    • Make sure everything gets where it needs to go, when it needs to get there. 

    Volunteer Engagement 

    • Create meaningful, well-organized opportunities for volunteers to support food sorting, stocking, distribution, and pickups, making sure they have clear direction, feel valued, and can serve effectively. 

    • Communicate clearly with volunteers and ensure they have what they need to serve well and feel appreciated. 

    Community Care & Miscellaneous 

    • Partner with other New Heights initiatives (Laundry Hub, New Heights Auto Services, Community Dinner, etc.) to extend care and connection. 

    • Support CFN meetings as able.

    • A servant leader unafraid of rolling up your sleeves, both friendly and dependable. 

    • Organized and good with lists, labels and logistics. 

    • Computer savvy for ordering and maintaining logs. 

    • A thoughtful shopper who loves finding deals and stewarding resources well. 

    • Self-starter with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. 

    • Comfortable leading others, with strong communication and people skills. 

    • Must possess a valid driver’s license and car (will be reimbursed for mileage.) 

    • Able to lift and carry up to 45 pound bags or boxes of food.

  • As an entry-level automotive technician, you will be a vital part of our team, contributing to the success of New Heights Auto Services and supporting our ministry's mission. Your primary role will involve performing routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, tire rotations, and tire changes, while also assisting in minor repairs and learning from experienced technicians. Additionally, you will be cross-trained in the basic role of the service advisor to provide coverage during absences. This role offers the opportunity to learn from seasoned technicians and service advisors, creating pathways for your professional advancement.

    Duties: Tasks of the automotive mechanic include:

    1. Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, brake jobs, tire rotations, and tire changes.

    2. Assist experienced technicians with diagnosing and repairing vehicles.

    3. Learn and apply proper diagnostic techniques and repair procedures.

    4. Maintain a clean and organized work area.

    5. Ensure tools and equipment are in good working condition and notify the supervisor of any needed replacements or repairs.

    6. Assist in transporting vehicles to and from the shop for outsourced repairs.

    7. Support volunteers in shop operations and mechanical duties as appropriate.

    8. Communicate effectively with the Service Advisor about vehicle status and additional work needed.

    9. Cross-train in the basic role of the Service Advisor to fill in during absences.

    10. Participate in a brief devotion and prayer at the beginning of each day.

    Education, Training and Experience Requirements:

    1. High school diploma or equivalent.

    2. Hold valid Mechanic Trainee License or higher Michigan certification.

    3. Basic understanding of automotive systems and repairs.

    4. Basic computer knowledge.

    5. Willingness to learn and follow instructions from experienced technicians.

    6. Humility and a cooperative attitude, especially when working with more experienced staff.

    7. Ability to work in a team environment and support volunteers.

    8. Must hold a valid driver’s license.

    9. Comfortable working with people from diverse backgrounds and treating everyone with respect.

    Working Conditions:

    • Must be able to lift heavy and awkward objects.

    • Be able to spend most of the day on your feet.

    • Will involve working with dirty and greasy parts.

    Schedule

    • Monday - Friday: 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM

    • Hours: 40-50 hours per week.

    Compensation & Benefits:

    • Salary: $12 - $18 per hour depending on experience.

    New Heights Christian Community Development Association, a Christian nonprofit organization, oversees the operations of both New Heights Auto Services and the New Heights Auto Ministry. New Heights Auto Services offers retail maintenance and repair services with proceeds supporting the New Heights Auto Ministry. The ministry's mission is to empower individuals with limited income by providing reliable transportation options aiding in securing and maintaining employment. This is achieved through affordable, high-quality vehicle repairs and the sale of vehicles at significantly reduced prices.
