IT'S ABOUT MORE THAN JUST FOOD

Community Food Network creates healthy communities by feeding individuals & families - body, mind and spirit. It replaces handouts and charity with meaningful involvement and community. We believe this cooperative effort can help maintain dignity and create relationships even as it helps provide for the physical needs of those Community Food Network serves.

New Heights CCDA currently runs four Community Food Network groups, and serves 130 individuals and families, twice a month. Community Food Network provides members with 1/3 - 1/2 of their food needs for the month.

Participants are members

Participants pay $6 per month to maintain their membership. These funds are never used for food, but rather to support operations for our delivery truck or to support Community Food Network social events (potlucks, Bingo, etc.). At the meeting, members pitch in to unload the truck, set-up the room, and sort the food into boxes.

It's a True Community

Of course, there is also time for conversation. One of the greatest things that Community Food Network provides to individuals is a sense of belonging and community.  Members quickly become friends and support one another through hard times.
